Information about the service

Tampere's goal is to be climate neutral by 2030. In climate watch we tell about the measures we are taking to mitigate and prepare for climate change.

According to the city's strategy Tampere will be climate neutral by the year 2030. This means that greenhouse gas emissions are reduced by 80 percent compared to 1990 levels and the remaining 20 percent will be compensated.

Tampere's climate watch collects together the city's climate measures. The climate watch presents 305 measures, divided into seven different themes:

  1. Sustainable detailed planning
  2. Sustainable transport system
  3. Sustainable construction
  4. Sustainable energy
  5. Sustainable consumption
  6. Sustainable urban nature

In addition to these there is theme: 0. Climate leadership and stakeholder collaboration

Climate watch's themes and measures are based on the first update of the Carbon Neutral Tampere 2030 Roadmap, which the Tampere City Council approved as a plan to achieve the city's carbon neutrality goal on 3 October 2022. The roadmap is updated every two years. The first roadmap was published on 31 August 2020.

Climate watch tells you what measures Tampere is taking towards carbon neutrality, how the measures affect the carbon neutrality goal, and how the measures are progressing. Climate watch is constantly updated and developed.

Tampere's climate watch is maintained by the City of Tampere Climate and Environmental Policy Unit. Kausal Oy is responsible for the implementation and technical maintenance of Climate Watch.

Tampere climate watch is open source and is based on the Helsinki Climate Watch service originally developed by the City of Helsinki. Helsinki Climate Watch has received support from the EU's Climate-KIC programme.
