Tampere's goal is to be carbon neutral by 2030, which means reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the city by 80% compared to 1990 and offsetting the remaining 20%.
The measures are collected into seven themes.
The themes emerge from the City of Tampere's environmental policy Sustainable Tampere 2030.
Tampere will be climate neutral in 2030. Tampere takes climate change risks and adaptation seriously.
The city will grow primarily into public transport zones and regional centres.
The modal share of sustainable mobility modes will be 69 %.
New construction will be at a zero-energy level, and the carbon footprint of housing will be small.
Renewable energy to account for 80%.
Consumption will be sustainable and the circular economy functional.
Urban nature and urban structures sequester carbon, and the city is prepared for climate change.
We need all Tampere residents, businesses and communities to get involved. Check out the Tampere climate guide, become a climate partner or get involved in the sustainability work of the university community.
