The City of Tampere invites you to join us in making choices for well-being and a sustainable tomorrow. Through climate and biodiversity actions, we promote ecological sustainability, which is the foundation of sustainable development. No one can do everything, but everyone can do something. Read the Tampere Climate and Nature Guide at https://tampereenilo.fi/ (in Finnish), that lists practical actions to increase biodiversity, among other things. Also check out the Nature for Yards guide (in Finnish), that you can use to increase the biodiversity of your own yard.
On the Vitality and peace from nature page, you can find more information about Tampere's recreational areas and the health benefits of spending time in nature. You can find more information about nature tours organized by the city on the Nature tours page.
You can read more about biodiversity in Tampere (in Finnish) and the Tampere Biodiversity Programme (in Finnish) on the City of Tampere website.

Participation in Tampere
Tampere has many different opportunities for participation and ways in which residents can make a difference. For example, the Tampere residents' panel is a developer community consisting of residents that operates mainly online.
You can participate in the different processes of urban planning, such as zoning, traffic planning, or the planning of parks and green areas, at several different stages of planning. For example, zoning is an interactive process that involves stakeholders, authorities, and decision-makers, among others. Urban planning materials are made available for viewing during the planning processes, so that stakeholders have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the draft plans and comment on them.
Participatory budgeting is an operating method in which the residents of the municipality decide on the use of a certain amount of money. The municipality allocates money to a specific purpose, and the residents plan and decide what to do with it. In 2025, the theme of participatory budgeting was smooth and sustainable everyday life, with biodiversity as one of its themes. Participatory budgeting complements and diversifies residents' opportunities to exert influence.
