Environmental education strengthens the relationship with nature and helps to maintain it. ECEC (early childhood education and care) and basic education curricula take into account the necessity of a sustainable lifestyle and eco-social education in order to grow into humanity. Ecological understanding and a connection to the environment are created when children and young people are able to test their knowledge and skills in nature through play, experimentation, wonder, and learning. Nature experiences for children of early childhood education and basic education age in Tampere are systematically offered by the Korento Nature School and the Taidekaari cultural education programme, which combines environmental and art education. The everyday life of daycare centers and schools also involves learning and spending time in nature.
Based on the resident survey, environmental and nature information is not easy to find. Up-to-date and clearly presented information on the state of the environment and nature is also a prerequisite for informed decision-making. Residents request more communication about the environment and nature - it will increase the knowledge and competence of Tampere residents about nurturing biodiversity.
