Tampere's ecological network consists of parks and urban forests, recreational areas and routes, private yards, and significant channels and their surroundings. The blue-green structure will be categorised in more detail to support master plan work, urban planning, and the monitoring of the blue-green infrastructure. The phased master plan for the inner city for 2021–2025 examines ecological networks and typifies the blue-green structure, and the work continues. The majority of all connections, about 60 per cent, are ecological connections with trees. The rest of the connections are combinations of different connection types, of which just under 30 per cent include blue connections, i.e. watercourses, and about 20 per cent open connections, such as fields, meadows, and areas beneath power lines.
